Hello J. A.
Cuddy School community,
We would
like to start by thanking everyone for the overwhelming outreach of support we
have received in response to the fire at the school. The Maintenance Department
and Winnipeg Building have been working very hard to get ready for the students
and staff.
The School
Division has been in contact with the Minister of Education and the school can now
share with you our revised plan for getting students back to school.
The grade 7
& 8 classrooms have been set up and they are ready to welcome the students
on Monday September 12th. Mr. Thomson will meet students at the front of the school at the start of the day. School starts at 8:45am and at that time students can enter the school and will report to their classroom. If students do are unsure of where to go they can come to the office and we can help them out.
The grade 1/2
classrooms which will be located at 23 Railroad avenue, in the building which used to be known as the Etech Centre, is in the process of being setup and
will be ready for students on Tuesday, September 13th
The portable classrooms have
arrived for the Kindergarten and the grade 3 to 6 classrooms. The school
division is currently in the process of connecting electrical and acquiring occupancy
permits for the portables. At this time,
we are hoping for a return of the grade 3-6 students on Wednesday or Thursday
of next week. We will know more once we hear from the municipality.
School
start, lunch and end times will remain the same as they have been. School
starts at 8:45, Lunch will be from 11:40 to 12:35, and students will be
dismissed at 3:25.
To
reiterate, Grade 7 & 8 students start school on Monday, September 12th.
Grade 1/2 students will start school on Tuesday
September 13th. Grade 3-6 students will be returning to school
Wednesday or Thursday depending when the portables are ready for occupancy. One
half of the Kindergarten students will be starting on Thursday September 14th
I have been in touch with the Parent Advisory and asked that they organize Walking
School Buses for our town students in Grade K-6. A Walking School Bus is simply a group of children walking
together under the supervision of one or more adults following a prescribed
route and schedule. Like a regular school bus, it offers a safe, dependable,
healthy, and green way for children to get to school.
If you
would be interested in having your child participate in the Walking School Bus,
please contact Angie Schlicting President of our Parent Advisory.
