Wow! What a start to the new year.
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! A school year which
starts with a school fire certainly presents some challenges. The great thing
is that we have an amazing staff and a wonderfully supportive community.
We are happy to say that all our students are back in
school. Considering we did not have a building in which to start the school
year it is pretty amazing that grades 7&8 students only missed 3 days of
school, grades 1&2 students only missed 4 days of school and Kindergarten
and grades 3-6 students only missed 7 days of school.
How long we will be out of the building is still to be
determined, however, we are hopeful that half of the school will be available
for use in the next 4-8 weeks. The other half of the school will be longer as
the cleaning and rebuilding needed is significant. I am hopeful that I will
have more information to share at our Parent Advisory Meeting scheduled for
October 4th. The meeting will be held in the library at Sanford
Collegiate.
We hope you will keep October 19th open as we are
hoping to hold our annual community BBQ that evening from 4-6pm. This will be
your chance to see all the hard work the teachers did getting the new temporary
classrooms ready for students.
During the crisis we found that the use of Remind was
extremely beneficial in keeping our parents and families informed. I encourage
all our families to connect with the school using the Remind service. Remind is
a service that allows schools to anonymously communicate with parents through
text messages. We encourage all our parents to join the school community on
Remind so that you receive important messages from the school. To join the
"J.A. Cuddy School Community" remind class all you have to do is send
the text message @jacud to (204) 808- 8986, from that point on you
will be able to receive text messages that are sent from the office. Remind
will ask you to download their app, however, you do not need to download the
app to receive messages from the school.
We will continue to use our tried and true methods of
communication, however, we are always striving to improve communication with
parents at J.A. Cuddy.

may not be following us yet.
