A Message From The J.A. Cuddy School Parent Advisory Council

≈•PAC•≈
The J.A. Cuddy School Parent Advisory Council would like to extend an invitation to the parents of J. A. Cuddy students and community members to join us for PAC meetings and events held throughout the school year.

The PAC typically meets 6-7 times per year, with the AGM held in October.  It currently consists of an executive board along with 7-11 voting members. The Principal and a Teacher representative attend the meetings, as well as our school trustee, when available. Attending meetings is a great way to stay current with school activities, policies, staffing changes, new programs, etc.

Some of the recent projects and topics discussed at PAC meetings include:

-Sanford Community Greenspace Project
-Hot lunches
-Review of school policies
-Program changes such as French Immersion
-Fundraisers (Trivia Night, Gift Cards, Paint Night, etc)
-Bussing concerns
-Music programs
-Staffing

Our AGM is Oct 17, 2018 at 7:00pm in the school library.

Elections and proposed bylaw amendments will be discussed and voted upon.

The proposed amendment to the bylaws is to allow all parents of students at J.A. Cuddy school to have voting privileges at PAC meetings.

Please come out and join us. It’s a great way to find out what’s going on at school!

If there are any questions or concerns, please contact us at: jacuddypac@gmail.com

The Milk Program is Back!

J.A. Cuddy School is pleased to let you know about our School Milk Program.

Why Milk? According to Canada’s Food Guide children aged four to eight years old need two servings of milk and alternatives each day and  youths aged nine to 13 years need three to four servings as part of a balanced diet.

Milk can be ordered through School Cash Online  - a link can be found on this webpage.
A sheet of ten chocolate milk tickets will cost $12.50 and a sheet of ten white milk tickets will cost $10.00. Once your order has been processed your child will receive their sheet of tickets to bring home.

From the Principal...

From the Principal
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! Welcome back to the many familiar faces, and welcome to the many new faces joining us this year; we look forward to getting to know you!
The school office opened on Monday, August 27th. If you have any questions or need clarification about the new school year, please drop by the office or give us a call at 204-736-2282.
September 6th marked the first day of school for students, although many teachers had been organizing and getting ready for their students since the middle of August.
The entire staff at J.A. Cuddy is looking forward to a great start to the 2018-2019 school year. In the near future the school will be opening up a new updated webpage and we hope that parents will find the new webpage informative and useful in organizing student and family life.
The school will continue to share information through remind. Remind is a service that allows schools to anonymously communicate with parents through text messages. J.A. Cuddy will use remind as one more method to keeping parents aware of school events and happenings. To join the "J.A. Cuddy School Community" remind all you have to do is send the text message @jacud to (204) 808- 8986, from that point on you will be able to receive text messages that are sent from the office.
If you would like to read more about remind, you can use the following link to find out more information https://goo.gl/6yEgfy
We will continue to use our tried and true methods of communication, however, we are always striving to improve communication with parents at J.A. Cuddy.
Please share our social media information with friends who may not be following us yet.

Dear Parents

As we come to the end of the school year, I want to thank you all for sending us such amazing students. J. A. Cuddy School is fortunate to have hard working, fun, focused, well behaved students walk in our doors every morning. Much of the credit for that goes to you and the care, love, and high expectations you set for them at home. We all thank you for your support throughout the year and your preparedness to work with us as a team.

I hope you have a wonderful summer, and can spend some quality time together as a family. Over the summer I hope that you will encourage your child to read a little each day. I also hope that you will find time to sneak in a little math, during car trips (how many more kilometres until our destination?), at restaurants (how much do you think our bill will be?) etc. Little activities like these will help students maintain the learning that has occurred over the school year.

Finally, I want to remind you that our office will close on Friday June 29th and will reopen Monday August 27th.

Thank you again for helping us to have such a successful year at J. A. Cuddy School. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Meet the Teacher BBQ on September 19th from 4-6pm and then the PAC meeting at 7pm.

Have a great summer!
Sincerely,
Scott Thomson
